THE PLANET SARAJEVO a film by Sahin Sisic

The violence, the terror, the destruction, the suffering and the foolishness of the war are shown. Not in the spectacular way like a journalist shows it, or like pamphlet but on a very intense way as seen by insider, like an intruding personal observation. Sahin made it a strong, impressive pictures about Sarajevo in the war.

In this movie Sisic follows an old man, wandering through the streets of Sarajevo, to find food for the numerous stray cats and dogs. The inhabitants of the war/torn city help him by giving him a portion of teir ration.

Dear Sahin,

Your film, made of beauty itself and set in wisdom, adorned with philosophical dignity, cannot fade in the eyes, of those who have seen it, nor can it wither in their spirit!

Each shot is a study in visual aesthetics, set in subtle hues of molted gold, each twinkle of a face, the horizon, the poplar trees – an essay in radiance, the deep dark grave, adorned with precious stones – it is metaphysical reference book of human existance!

This film remains, grandios and alone, it rises above the evil and the violence as a clear star in the midst of this gallactic abyss.
Shine on!

Regards,
Ferid Muhic
